The alternative world is a small world and many years ago, Rob (also a photographer), took my photo at the sadly missed Wendy House in Leeds when he was the event’s photographer. This time, it was Rob’s turn to be in front of the camera.
Rob and Liza are huge lovers of rock and metal music, and it was important to them their day included their lifestyle and music choices. They met at a club night and unknowingly they had been at the same nights in the same clubs many times, but never met. Both love going to festivals and gigs where Rob and Si (his Best Man) are usually the first to start a mosh pit.
Music is a big part of their lives, and it was part of their ceremony at Oakwood at Ryther with guests joining in as Rob danced a long to Kid Rock’s ‘Cowboy’ as Si presented him with a cowboy hat during their ceremony in remembrance of the first time Liza and Rob met.
Liza looked amazing in her dress and New Rocks and Rob and his Groomsmen and Liza’s Bridesman all wore black. What other colour is there for a rock wedding? Liza entered with her Mom and Best Dog/ Chief Barksmaid Skye who was their ring bearer. There was so much love in the room for them with their friends and family interacting with the personal wedding ceremony and placing the ribbons for their handfasting, led by my wife Ellie from Alternative Ceremonies UK.
Rain was an uninvited guest but the newly-weds didn’t let it spoil their day with both of them lying on the grass (Rob’s suggestion) outside the venue with the cloudy skies above them, making the shots look dramatic.
Their friend Jo made the rock-tastic wedding cake (which was lovely) with the two of them and Skye as the topper. As Ellie and I have become good friends with Rob and Liza, they invited us to stay for the reception with street food, a great acoustic set by friends, and the evening music supplied by the excellent Guns N’ Yorkshire Roses.
Life is ours; we live it this way…
…and nothing else matters.
Congratulations Rob and Liza, it was an honour to be involved in your special day, and we had a great time.
