Kirsten and Vinny chose Saltwick Bay (locally known as the nab) as the location for their handfasting in Whitby. Now living in the Highlands of Scotland, Kirsten lived in Whitby as a child and it has many memories for her, including now the memory of their handfasting.
It was a bright but very windy day in September. Before their ceremony, Vinny happily posed in Whitby’s historic Henrietta Street at the side of the famous 199 steps leading up to Whitby Abbey. His buttonhole included a thistle, a nod to Scotland, his homeland.

At low tide Kirsten arrived with her dad, wearing a full length lace dress and holding a flowing floral arrangement. Vinny and their families and friends were waiting for her as was their beloved cute dog Inky who was Best Dog/Dog of Honour. with a matching floral arrangement on her harness.
The ceremony was again created by my other half Ellie from Alternative Ceremonies UK. Kirsten and Vinny were handfasted with their family and friends present.
After the ceremony the Bride and Groom and I climbed the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey to take some images of just the two of them. Both were naturals in front of the camera, and this helped to get some naturally posed, relaxed yet stunning images of them on their wedding day.
The sun was shining, the images are in colour, but they have a gothic presence about them. Maybe not darkly devoted, but Kirsten and Vinny are deeply devoted to each other, and this is clear to see in the images.
On the evening I put on my DJ hat for an 80’s club night in Whitby with the newlyweds in attendance in their wedding outfits. They received many congratulations from the attendees, and they hit the dancefloor with their friend.
Congratulations Kirsten and Vinny, you were an absolute pleasure to photograph on a day when the wind was an uninvited gate crasher.
