wedding photographer in Whitby

Wedding photographer in Whitby, Dark Devotion Images was created so Goths, alt and likeminded people had a choice when searching for an alternative photographer. There are many alternative photographers; many aren’t alternative people. It is a popular phrase in the wedding industry. As somebody who has been part of the Goth subculture for over 40 years (this makes me feel old), it isn’t just a title or a phrase for me. I’m a goth wedding photographer in Whitby, creating images for people who lead an alternative lifestyle.

Camera

A device that captures an image of an object on a light-sensitive surface, which can be processed into a picture.

Photographer

A person who creates or captures images using a camera.

An artist

A person who demonstrates creativity and imagination through expression.

Most people can take a photograph of an object or of people using a camera or their phone. I imaginatively and creatively record images of people documenting a specific occasion or a point in time, focusing on them as the subject, detailing their clothing, relationships and personalities through the lens of a camera.

About me, a goth photographer in Whitby

I’m Rob, an unintrusive, documentary and candid alternative goth wedding photographer in Whitby. Originally from the West Midlands, I now reside in Whitby, North Yorkshire. Whitby is home to biannual Goth weekends and is associated with Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula. Whitby Abbey and St Mary’s churchyard (I can see both from my office windows) inspired him and are mentioned in the novel.

I’m a black wearing, tattooed, burger-loving, sausage-roll connoisseur: a rum and Guinness drinker (not both together), hat enthusiast and an alternative DJ. With my wife Ellie (aka Starr) who is a Goth Pagan wedding and handfasting celebrant (Alternative Ceremonies UK) I run different themed Goth, Punk, New Wave, EBM and Indie club nights. During Whitby Goth Week, you can find me DJing at Monster Mash and Dark Souls Club Night

As a DJ, music is a big part of my life, and it is a great conversation starter. I have a varied taste in music and love going to gigs. A qualified Graphic Designer of over 35 years and a website designer, a full-on techy, who is owned by a cute dog with a bug attitude and two Devon Rex cats.

‘People buy people ’ as the saying goes, if you are looking for a wedding photographer in Whitby and if you like my style of photography, get in touch for a no obligation chat.
