Hello, I’m Rob (he/him), the guy behind the camera at Dark Devotion Images.
A gothic type who like Dracula, came to the shores of Whitby in search of new beginnings.
The beginning of my dark devotion with photography started in 1987. *‘The First Chapter’ began after looking ‘Through the Looking Glass’ of my camera. Hanging out in the ‘Darklands’ of the dark room, a red lit ‘Floodland’, as the photographic images appeared.
Since that time, photography has been an important part of my life. Photographing bands, people, events, celebrations, and weddings.
Music is a huge part of my life (as it is for most of us dark types), and I like to bring ‘Music to the Masses’ during Whitby Gothic Weekend and most months at alternative club nights locally.
*Some of my many favourite albums which were released in 1987.
I’m not going to patronise you or bore you with the usual ‘you get a new friend’ remark many photographers state. I drink Guinness and rum, wear black, know far too much about Star Wars, think Die Hard and Point Break are two of the best films ever, and love Apple products.
My wife Ellie is the original alternative celebrant, (Alternative Ceremonies UK) and my daughter in law Jo (Films by Jo) is a videographer; it’s a family thing.
That’s enough about the tattooed, bald guy behind the camera.
If you are looking for a photographer who will help you celebrate you and your style, or document your wedding or event with great images, give me a call. It’s a small world and you might have been a guest at a dark wedding, event, or gig in Whitby I have been the photographer for.
